A New Hunger
I recall the hunger
As I ravenously consumed
Food that fed
The life in my womb
I remember amazement
At my innermost parts
Growing a life
Right under my heart
That life’s been birthed,
Has enormously blessed.
Now a new hunger rises
One I never would have guessed
Would grip me at the very place
My girl grew and formed
The spot that’s been hollow
And empty so long
That place of yearning
Where longing for more
Than a transient existence
Eats away at my core
The place where I met
The only One who can fill
That eternal void
Through His gift of free will
And when we ask Him to feed us
As I have done
A new life is birthed
Through Jesus, the Son
