Deliverance
Led on a leash
Like an untrained pup,
I now race to Your table
Where I drink and sup
On Your blood and body
Hungry for Your word
Obedient to a call
I once thought absurd
A call that revealed
Things unseen
Through an answered prayer
In a prophetic dream
Where a mighty darkness
Held me down
Hands, feet and mouth
Heavily bound
Yet in the periphery
Was a gauzy blue light
Where tender voices circled
My paralyzed fright
I screamed in my mind
Until I finally woke
Shouting HELP ME out loud
Then a raspy voice croaked
It was leering and mocking,
Clearly said,”Praise the Lord”
And I ran for my Bible,
My two-edged sword
I fell to my knees
Never so scared
Clutching Your word
Repeating Your prayer
Until the stunning revelation
That I had finally won
By Your power, Your spirit--
My Deliverer had come
