The Wonder of God

Like the lion
In the Wizard of Oz
I was a coward
When it came to God

Afraid to surrender
Myself to that might
Afraid to expose 
My heart to the light

So I “new-aged” my mind,
Let those thoughts guide my path
While secretly dreading
The storm of God’s wrath

But what happened instead
Was a huge surprise
When God found me
Through my dying brother’s eyes

Which shone not with anger
But with a loving reprieve
As I echoed the cowardly lion,
I do believe, I do believe.
