Then and Now
That was me--
High heels, tight dress,
Corporate climbing
With all the rest.
Sunglassed, smoking,
Strutting Madison,
Lunching on Sabrettes,
Trysting at the Radisson.
Ann Taylor suits,
Corner office, walnut desk,
My God my boss--
Who would have guessed
A freight train of time
Would flatten it all,
Or three decades later
Those memories would pall
At the now of you
And the now of me,
At who you are
And who, in you, I can be.
